Dr. Carl Moore

Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at FAMU-FSU

Dr. Carl Moore is a highly respected Mechanical Engineer who has worked in the field with Fortune 500 companies like Kodak and Ford. Dr. Moore is currently shaping the new generation of aspiring engineers as an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering.

Dr. Moore earned his MS and Ph. D. in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University. He is also a member of HU7, a group of 7 students that entered Howard engineering in 1986 and later earned their Ph.D.’s in engineering. Dr. Moore earned his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Howard University and he’s a passionate advocate for and supporter of HBCU’s #HBCUexcellence.

Let's Connect

“As a university professor, I continue to do robotics research, mainly focused on haptic interface design and robot-based 3D printing,” says Dr. Moore. “At Florida A&M University, I am invested in the training and mentoring of underrepresented graduate students. Fortunately, as the Director of the Title III Graduate Engineering Program at FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, I can work with many high-achieving African-American engineering Ph.D. students.”

Dr. Moore and his wife have five children; two are currently students at Howard University with their third entering college this fall. Outside of work, Dr. Moore enjoys running, reading science fiction and books on economics, spending time with his family, and “enjoying a great cup of coffee later in the day than I probably should.”
